Let's take a look at Pièce Montée Patisserie (삐에스몽테 제빵소), a charming bakery and café in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.
I had never heard of this beautiful place before, but my wife Regina suggested I visit it, as it's become quite popular on Korean social media.
So, while I was in the area after exploring Yongjusa Temple in Hwaseong City, I decided to drop by, maybe have a cup of coffee, and take some photos for this website.
Finding it took me a little while, but it was worth the effort! They had a wide variety of bread, cakes, snacks, coffee, and other beverages.
Well, check it out below...
Pièce Montée Patisserie, which means "mounted piece" in French, is a delightful bakery and café in the vibrant city of Suwon.
Its name combines modern urban vibes with traditional aesthetics, giving it a distinct character that sets it apart from other cafes in the area.
Unlike most cafes that try to reflect their name in their concept, Pièce Montée takes a different approach by embracing tradition despite its cosmopolitan-sounding title.
With an ambiance that exudes warmth and elegance, Pièce Montée is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy some delicious treats while immersing yourself in the charm of French-inspired bread and pastries and Korean-style decors.
As you approach the café, you will be pleased to see a spacious parking lot, a true rarity for large cafés in the city. Upon entering the Hanok-style café, you will immediately be struck by the cozy and inviting atmosphere that surrounds you.
Traditional Korean architecture, with its wooden beams and low ceilings, creates a sense of intimacy and warmth that is hard to find in modern establishments.
The café's tranquil ambiance is perfect for visitors seeking peace and respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Depending on your preference, you can choose to sit at one of the low tables on the floor, surrounded by soft cushions and tasteful decor, or at a regular table.
The allure of hanok cafés lies in their association with leisure and relaxation, which is why they have become increasingly popular in recent years.
Whether you are here to catch up with friends, work on your laptop, or enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, this café provides the perfect environment to unwind and recharge.
The café boasts two delightful ponds that add to its traditional charm. These serene pools are inhabited by hardworking fish (Goi) who diligently adhere to the café's unique concept.
Although the water could have been a tad clearer, the overall effect is nothing short of enchanting, making it a perfect spot to unwind and relax.
The stone (granite) lamps and stone mill are other more traditional and rare items.
The café boasts an interior that is simply breathtaking. Its captivating lighting steals the show and leaves patrons mesmerized, so it's no wonder visitors can't resist taking pictures of its beauty.
The cozy indoor seating and traditional Korean-style windows and ceiling add to the place's charm.
Whether sitting by the window or enjoying the comfortable indoor seating, the café's ambiance will sweep you off your feet.
Pièce Montée is a bakery with an impressive selection of breads and pastries that will tantalize your taste buds.
Their salt bread, also known as Salt Bread (소금빵), is a true standout. The crust of this bread is delightfully crispy, while the inside is soft and bursting with rich, flavorful goodness that will leave you yearning for more.
For croissant aficionados, Pièce Montée is a must-visit destination. Their croissants are flawlessly flaky, with just the right balance of buttery goodness and light, airy texture. Every bite is a true masterpiece.
With so many different bread options to choose from, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. But fear not, for quality prevails at Pièce Montée.
Each item is crafted with care, using only the freshest and finest ingredients to ensure that you get the very best.
If you want a healthier option, try their delightful Caprese salad. It is a perfect blend of fresh vegetables, cream, mozarella cheese, and an irresistible balsamic dressing that will leave your taste buds craving more.
If you have a sweet tooth, the strawberry tart is a must-try. The tart shell is thick and buttery, beautifully complementing the fresh strawberries. You will surely be delighted with every bite's perfect balance of flavors and textures.
So, if you're a fan of tarts, you will surely appreciate the artistry behind this scrumptious dessert.
The café boasts a diverse selection of beverages that cater to all tastes, from hot to cold, sweet to sour, and everything in between.
Although no drink stands out as a signature item, coffee enthusiasts and casual drinkers alike will be pleased with the well-prepared coffee that satisfies their cravings.
As you enter the café, the first floor is dedicated to order-taking and food and drink preparation. You can then head up to the second floor, where ample seating awaits you.
You'll find suitable table options in various sizes, whether alone or with a group. The cozy atmosphere encourages relaxation, making it an ideal spot for catching up with friends or doing some work while sipping your favorite beverage.
For those who want to enjoy their meal elsewhere, the café offers convenient takeaway options. However, if you're seeking a more intimate and charming dining experience, you may consider reserving one of their hanok-style rooms, as these areas tend to fill quickly.
In summary, Pièce Montée Patisserie in Suwon combines tradition, aesthetics, and delightful treats. Whether seeking a peaceful escape or a tasty pastry, this café offers something. 🌿🥐

First, get off the subway Suin-Bundang Line at Gosaek Station. Head to Exit #2 and walk straight until you reach the main road (you will see the overpass), but do not cross the road.
Second, from that overpass, turn left and keep walking (maybe about 5 minutes) until you reach the crossroads. From there, turn right and cross the road. Piece Montee Patisserie is about one minute from the crossing.
Piece Montee Patisserie is about 800 meters from Gosaek Station. Getting there in the evening is more impressive (and romantic!) because of the sight of lights enveloping the hanok-style cafe buildings.
You can get to Gosaek Station after you transfer from Suwon Station, which is connected to Seoul Subway Line 1.
